CCPDA - CA Solar Energy Facility Ordinance Working Group (SEFOWG)
Background: As a follow up to our email survey regarding ordinances drafted in CA by counties for regulating solar/photovoltaic facilities, it is clear that there are a wide variety of standards or no standards being implemented by the 58 counties…this is NOT a good thing.
Key Issues to be addressed are:
- Balancing the need for solar and the protection of Ag land
- Williamson Act consistency issues
- Where the line is for discretionary/ministerial permit approval?
- How to make the process one that incentives people to ‘Go Solar’ and protects/promotes Ag?
Action: CCPDA has formed a Committee of a cross section of individuals that are tasked with writing the CA Solar Energy Facility Ordinance (SEFO) that will be available for use by all CA County Planning Directors.
